Support & setup

Download Block Steward on the App Store for iPhone and iPad. Requires iOS or iPadOS 18 or later.
Connect your server
Block Steward requires a Minecraft Java dedicated server you administer, with RCON enabled. Realms and Bedrock are not supported. You can explore the offline demo without connecting a server.
- In your server’s
server.properties, enableenable-rcon=true, set a strongrcon.password, and notercon.port. Restart the server after changing these settings. Managed hosting may provide these settings in its control panel. - Make sure your iPhone or iPad can reach the server through a trusted private network or an existing VPN connection. Keep the RCON port off the public internet.
- Open the Servers tab, enter the hostname, RCON port, and password, then select Save & Test Connection. The RCON port may differ from the game port.
Connection troubleshooting
- Connection refused: check that the server is running, RCON is enabled, and the RCON port is correct.
- Timeout: check the address, firewall, private-network or VPN connection, and Block Steward’s Local Network permission in iOS Settings.
- Authentication failed: check the RCON password and restart the server after changing it.
- A command returns an error: server software and plugins can change command names and syntax. Read the server’s response; a connected status does not mean every command is supported.
Version 1.1 plugin tools · Beta
Version 1.1 reads server help automatically after connecting. Detected Essentials tools are grouped under Actions → Plugins & Server Tools → Essentials.
- Player Info: look up a selected online player’s location.
- Player Care: Heal, Feed, and Extinguish, using an online-player picker.
- World: weather controls with discovered worlds and a remembered selection for each server.
- Travel: Teleport to Spawn when an EssentialsSpawn command is detected.
- Economy: read-only player balance lookup.
- Server Info: Essentials version, uptime, TPS, memory, and loaded worlds.
- Advanced: discovered commands and detection details.
Controls appear only when the app recognizes the relevant command help. Plugin version, permissions, configuration, command overrides, and customized or translated responses can affect detection. This is not a guarantee of compatibility with every Essentials version.
AuthMe account tools
When AuthMe and supported administrator commands are detected, select a player to see their last login automatically and access supported account tools. Open Actions → AuthMe for offline-name entry and server administration. Depending on detected commands, tools include registration, password changes, force login, removal of registration, plugin version, and configuration reload.
Force Login requires an online player. Registration creates an account in your server’s AuthMe database; it does not create a Minecraft or Microsoft account. Forks and customized help can affect detection.
Passwords entered in the dedicated AuthMe forms are not saved by the app or added to its command history. Password-command responses are hidden. RCON still transmits them without encryption, and your server or plugins may log commands. Avoid entering passwords in the general Console, whose commands are retained in session history.
Previously Seen players
The Players tab remembers up to 2,000 recent players observed online by this device, separately for each saved profile and server address/port. Offline entries can expose supported AuthMe account tools. Last Seen is the app’s observation time; Last Login comes from AuthMe. This is not a complete player directory or list of registered accounts, and it does not import past server history. Demo players are not saved.
If a beta tool is missing
- Reconnect and allow automatic discovery to finish.
- Open the relevant plugin menu and expand Detection Details. Keep the full response when reporting a problem.
- Confirm that the required plugin is installed and its command is enabled. Teleport to Spawn requires EssentialsSpawn.
- If worlds or statistics are missing, use Refresh Worlds or Refresh Statistics. The current parser recognizes standard English statistics output. Manual world entry remains available.
Server statistics are snapshots; check the displayed refresh time. Select an online player for player controls. Review modifying commands before confirming them, and test beta actions on a disposable server first.
Command results and server power
A server may return no response or reply before a change finishes. Check the player or server state before repeating a modifying command. Block Steward does not automatically retry a command after a connection failure.
Stop Server closes the server process and disconnects players. You must start it again through your host or server controls. There is no dedicated Restart Server button. Run Reload Command is not a restart; server software and plugins determine what it reloads.
